To be a King

Lord of valor, Lord of hope

Lord of wonder, Lord of most

Give me wisdom to rule, give me wisdom to hear

Give me grace when I slip, give me courage when I fear.

Show me how to lead, show me how to fight

Show me victory that I need tonight.

I have two hands, I have two feet

Use them both to help me be King.

All of my subjects, all my men

Come to me with open hands

One prayer I ask, one prayer I seek

To rule with honor, valor, and humility.

I am no King without The King by my side

So tonight I lay down my pride.

Now I know how to rule and know how to lead

Thanks to the one who died for me.

June 6,1944

Hitler's dream for a Nazi world was almost a realization...almost. His dream came to a crash on June 6,1944: D-Day

Overlord was an awesome mission, not just for our troops, but for all of the allies and nations that stood against tyranny and the Nazi machine. It was the largest air, land, and sea operation undertaken before and since then. 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes, and over 150,000 service men took part of this epic assault to destroy the enemies of freedom.

The troops coming off the boat, carrying 80lbs of gear, found themselves in an area that couldn't be called anything else but Hell. There was no protection for them once they arrived on the beach for another 200 yards. They had to fight off enemy artillery and other obstacles before they could breach the enemy lines. Through all of the missile's, gun fire, and explosions, the allies advanced and breached the walls of the enemy. The will of the allies was more powerful than any weapon ever forged. Through the help and grace of Almighty God and our resilient service men, the allies prevailed and turned the tide in World War II.

It was a day of days. In that hour, hope and freedom endured. Remember what they did and why they did it. God bless our troops and God bless the United States of America.

The war inside

Whether you know it or not, there is a war going on all around us. It's not military, political, or even over religion. It's a spiritual war, one that has been waging since the beginning of man. When I became a Christian, I was on a spiritual honeymoon so to speak. I thought all my troubles, all my temptations would be gone. I thought my past would be thrown in the trash and never have to worry about it ever again....WRONG! This is when Satan launches his schemes and attacks the hardest. I was pounded with temptation after temptation. I was asking God "why are you letting this happen to me?" "Why is Satan coming at me with all this junk from my past?" But the Lord reminded me that he doesn't tempt anyone, nor does he allow you to be tempted more than you can handle.

Temptations come in all forms: The cool looking suit at Polo, the awesome piece of cheesecake in the dairy, or the gorgeous secretary wearing revealing clothing. In today's culture, it's hard not to notice such enticing pleasures.

How do we escape from temptation? Well you really can't run away from it. Until Christ returns Satan will try to steer people away from God. There is a way out. The best way to fight off temptation is to submerge yourself in God. This can be by praying, reading the word, praising the Lord or singing a song that blesses the Lord. Christ gives the best example when he was in the wilderness. The Devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor and said " all this I will give you if you will bow down and worship me." Christ returns with scripture " away from me Satan! For it is written worship the Lord your God, and serve him only." Matt 4:8-10

Always know that God loves you and he will be with you every step of the way. We are more than conqueror's. So when you feel the beating drums of Satan around you, call out to Jesus and proclaim victory in his name.

The way that you love me

Have you ever told someone you love them? Sure you have. During sometime this week, you will probably tell your wife, husband, mother/father, and your children that you love them. You may even have friends that you love and would do anything for them. But what about unconditional love?

The Greeks use a term "
agape" which means love. Now how does that relate to unconditional love? The best example is the sacrifice Christ took at the cross. What he did was beyond human reasoning. Here was God, in human form, hanging on a cross to die. But he did it to display his love for us. By dieing on that cross, he paid every single sin for humanity. That's how much he loves us. John 3:16 is buried deep in my mind and heart: "For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son, for whosoever belief in him, shall not perish but have everlasting life."

On September 29, 2007 I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. He rapped me in his arms and gave me peace and joy. Something I never felt before, yet it felt wonderful and free. All the fears, doubts, burdens were gone. His love is something I will always cherish.
