Whether you know it or not, there is a war going on all around us. It's not military, political, or even over religion. It's a spiritual war, one that has been waging since the beginning of man. When I became a Christian, I was on a spiritual honeymoon so to speak. I thought all my troubles, all my temptations would be gone. I thought my past would be thrown in the trash and never have to worry about it ever again....WRONG! This is when Satan launches his schemes and attacks the hardest. I was pounded with temptation after temptation. I was asking God "why are you letting this happen to me?" "Why is Satan coming at me with all this junk from my past?" But the Lord reminded me that he doesn't tempt anyone, nor does he allow you to be tempted more than you can handle.
Temptations come in all forms: The cool looking suit at Polo, the awesome piece of cheesecake in the dairy, or the gorgeous secretary wearing revealing clothing. In today's culture, it's hard not to notice such enticing pleasures.
How do we escape from temptation? Well you really can't run away from it. Until Christ returns Satan will try to steer people away from God. There is a way out. The best way to fight off temptation is to submerge yourself in God. This can be by praying, reading the word, praising the Lord or singing a song that blesses the Lord. Christ gives the best example when he was in the wilderness. The Devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor and said " all this I will give you if you will bow down and worship me." Christ returns with scripture " away from me Satan! For it is written worship the Lord your God, and serve him only." Matt 4:8-10
Always know that God loves you and he will be with you every step of the way. We are more than conqueror's. So when you feel the beating drums of Satan around you, call out to Jesus and proclaim victory in his name.
